With this site we aim to bring you up to the minute information on all of our current and future products & courses.

a multi award winning, national company with a North-West focus, The Vocational College is an established Learning Provider and is accredited with City & Guilds of London, Oxford Cambridge and RSA Examinations, with strong affiliations to the Glass Qualifications Authority (GQA) and other awarding bodies. Covering a variety of occupations, we have a range of depth and experience that few, if any, other similar organisations can match. The Vocational College enjoys substantial contracts for the delivery of NVQ based training with the Skills Funding Agency and the Young Peoples Learning Agency.

Our Programmes have been designed to meet the needs of employers and provide both young people and experienced workers with quality training towards nationally recognised qualifications in their chosen career sectors.

Programmes are open to all, regardless of race, religion, gender, marital status, sexual orientation, disability or offender background (except where specific legislation applies), who are assessed as being able to complete their training within agreed timelines. Priority is given to those aged 16 - 18.

Graded "Good" by OfSTED in July 2010, our courses are designed to help meet the economic challenges of the 21st century and combine high quality vocational training, both on and off-the-job, with training in QCA Key Skills, leading to National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs).


Our Philosophy

The Vocational College Philosophy embraces:

  • Open entry onto the programme to anyone wishing to take up Training towards NVQ's, with equal opportunities for all.
  • Employed status is required for Apprenticeship programmes, however, placements can be arranged for certain other programmes if the Learner is not of employed status.
  • A structured training and career development plan, is tailored for the individual, monitored and assessed on a regular basis.
  • Comprehensive initial assessment and induction programme to ensure the right award at the right level for the individual.
  • Guidance on career and personal development
  • Access to development and assessment in allied fields.
  • Full Support to progress to the timely achievement of Apprenticeship frameworks and awards.
  • Knowledge & understanding of Health & Safety regulations and procedures,which will be included in all aspects of the framework, including both on and off-the-job training within the work place.
  • Breadth & flexibility, using Key and Functional Skills to augment technical skills with Application of Number (Mathematics), Communication (English), ICT, Improving Own Learning and Working with Others.
  • Dedicated to the Safety and Wellbeing of our learners.  Confidential reporting using the S.H.A.R.P System.
