This qualification is aimed at those who work as glaziers, installing glass into frames (eg windows, doors), and/or those who work to maintain glazing installations (usually windows and doors).
The standards cover the most important aspects of the job. This qualification is at Level 2, and should be taken by those who are fully trained to deal with routine assignments.
Candidates should require minimum supervision in undertaking the job. A further qualification for glazing at Level 3 is also available. In addition, there are qualifications for those who install replacement glass supporting frames and units.
Candidates for this qualification should be assessed in the context of glazing installation or maintenance of glazing systems.

Candidates should achieve all the 7 mandatory units, plus 1 other unit from the 2 optional units. The optional unit chosen will determine:
Candidates should provide evidence of competence in all the statements listed for each element. Guidance on the evidence that will be acceptable is contained in the introduction to each unit.
Mandatory units (all 7 units must be taken)
Unit 1 - Maintain health and safety within the glazing environment
Unit 2 - Contribute to the work of the glazing team
Unit 3 - Confirm glazing requirements
Unit 4 - Transport and handle glazing materials
Unit 5 - Prepare for glazing work
Unit 6 - Make safe damaged glass on site
Unit 7 - Install glass into glazing systems
Optional units (1 unit must be taken – Unit 8 - Glazing (Installation), Unit 9 - Glazing (Maintenance)
Unit 8 - Cut glass for glazing
Unit 9 - Maintain glazing systems
