Sarah Byrne adds "Environment" to the mix

The college maintains a very efficient and independant Health & Safety team who look after the H&S and Safeguarding interests of Staff, Learners and Employers.  The recruitment of Sarah Byrne to the team has added an environmental specialist to the mix which has provided a range of advantages to the service offered by the team.

Sarah achieved her BSc with Honours in 2007 and gained a post as a SHE Advisor in a manufacturing company, this role progressed to Environment Manager, at the company’s renewable energy department.  She gained invaluable experience in both these roles and it was here she experienced her first taste of health and safety.

In 2008 Sarah took a job as a Health & Safety Field Officer at the Vocational College.  Over the last 3 years Sarah has gained a NEBOSH Certificate, ISO14001 EMS, Asbestos training and fire safety management training to name just a few.  Sarah has also gained a substantial amount of experience working throughout the UK with a range of industries from glass and glazing manufacturing to retail and sports.

Sarah is now looking to the future within her current role, hoping to progress through the Diploma in Health & Safety and Environmental Management at Nottingham Trent University and Bulletproof management training as well as becoming the company's Deputy Safeguarding Officer.
