News » MP Thanks TVC for Youth Summit Success
The event was organised with the youth of Wirral in mind. Among those present were representatives from Merseyside’s three big higher education establishments, Liverpool University, John Moores and Liverpool Hope, and a range of local learning providers offering plenty of alternatives to explore for those thinking of taking a different route.
The Vocational College was on hand to discuss access to apprenticeships, while law and accountancy firms offered insights into gaining a foothold in their respective industries without a university degree. For those perhaps looking to do something interesting and worthwhile while thinking over their options, World Wide Volunteering and Camp America representatives were present to discuss the benefits of taking time out and exploring the world.
The event is seen as being a tremendous success, so much so that it could become an annual event.
Ms McVey writes, “This has set the scene for what could be rolled out as a national model to help the youth of today make the right decisions about whether to go down the university route, the vocational qualification route or whether they wish to get involved with voluntary activities”. “It was clear to me that all the students enjoyed the event and many told me that they thought this was a great idea and the information they picked up had given them much food for thought”.
