Level 1

NVQ in Sport, Recreation and Allied Occupations

This qualification is seen as the entry level occupational qualification for the Sport, Recreation and Allied Occupations industry.

It is aimed mainly at young people or others who are new to the Sport and Recreation for this reason, it is accepted that many candidates will not be employed, but may be gathering their evidence in a college, school or work placement.

The qualification aims to assess the competence of workers beginning careers in the sport and leisure industry.

This award is suitable for the 14 – 16 year old market and covers areas such as customer service, health and safety and maintaining facilities.


Level 2

Certificate in Sport, Recreation and Allied Occupations Industry and Organisational Awareness

Sport Mixed

This qualification provides the mandatory technical certificate requirement for the Apprenticeship Framework in Active Leisure and Learning and Leisure.

It covers the employment rights and responsibilities, employment law, and sport and leisure specific industry awareness, within one of the following areas:

  • Operational Services
  • Coaching, Teaching and Instruction
  • Exercise and Fitness

 

Level 2

NVQ in Operational Services

This qualification is primarily designed for those staff Who provide services such as – life-guarding or plant operation, setting up and taking down equipment, equipment maintenance, cleaning and tidying, Customer care – to customers or members.

Typical settings for evidence collection will be public or private leisure centres, sports centres, stadia, fitness centres,sports clubs, or oudoor activity centres.

The qualification aims to assess the competence of these candidates, thus demonstrating their

practical application of the role and will inevitably cover units around health and
safety, customer service and teamwork.

Level 3

Certificate in Sport, Recreation and Allied Occupations Industry and Organisational Awareness

This qualification provides the mandatory technical certificate requirement for the Advanced Apprenticeship Framework in Active Leisure, and Learning and Leisure.

It covers the employment rights and responsibilities, employment law, and sport and leisure specific industry awareness, within one of the following areas:

  • Operations and Development
  • Coaching, Teaching and Instruction
  • Instructing Physical Activity and Exercise
