History

The Vocational College (TVC) is a private company, founded in 1995, with its head office and conference facilities in Liverpool. TVC has contracts with the Education and Skills Funding Agency, to provide apprenticeship and work-related programmes across all regions in England.  The company also contracts to provide funded Study Programmes in Merseyside from a specialist centre on the Wirral along with Traineeships nationally.

TVC is a member of the Wirral Guild of Alternative Provision and offers comprehensive, qualification based, Alternative Education Programme for young people from the age of 14. Our programmes are designed to meet the needs and aspirations of young people approaching post 16 education and careers.

TVC is largely employer-led and is fully committed to the training and development of all learners, regardless of their background, enabling them to achieve meaningful qualifications and fruitful careers.

The company offers WRL and apprenticeship training for the Glass and Glazing Industry in manufacturing technologies and construction, as well as apprenticeships in the business and management environment.

The glass related manufacturing and construction qualifications offered by TVC include glass processing, fabrication, fenestration installation, glazing, glass related distribution & warehousing and surveying.

TVC also delivers Glass Industry Modern Apprenticeships, in partnership with ‘In Training’ in Scotland.

TVC holds the MATRIX Standard for IAG.

In our current MATRIX assessment, it was said that our learners are highly satisfied with the IAG process.

OfSTED

TVC was last inspected by Ofsted in June 2015 and Graded 2 for Overall Effectiveness of Provision.

Inspectors found that:-

• Learners are inducted into their programme well and they understand the expectations set for them.
• Learners participate well and enjoy their learning with a range of teaching and learning materials being used to interest and motivate.
• Learners make good progress from their starting points and gain in confidence which helps them make decisions and choices regarding their next steps in training or employment.
• The overall success rates for learners completing within their planned timescales are well above the national rate and have been for the last 3 consecutive years.
• Safeguarding arrangements are good and leaders and managers use very good and well-established links with employers to develop programmes that meet the needs of local and national employers

We aspire to be the provider of choice for top quality vocational education and training throughout the UK, within our niche sectors, delivering high quality, flexible and responsive services which meet the needs of learners, employers and the wider community.
