Alternative Provision

The Vocational College is a member of The Wirral Guild of Alternative Provision and offers a comprehensive, qualification based, Alternative Education Programme for young people from the age of 14. Our programmes are designed to meet the needs and aspirations of young people approaching post 16 education and careers. We focus on “fresh start” approach and all applicants undergo a full college induction and initial assessment programme prior to enrolment before embarking on their chosen course. Our assessment and induction process enables us to take into consideration individual learner needs educationally, socially and emotionally. The college is warm and welcoming and offers a safe environment with fantastic facilities. All learners have access to free nutritional breakfast and lunch from our college café “Food for Thought”

Having worked within alternative provision for over 15 years I have extensive knowledge of issues young people may face when reintegrating into education. Working in partnership with schools and other agencies is central to my practice to ensure that all learners are offered appropriate support to enjoy, achieve and progress. Our staff have considerable experience with young people facings multiple barriers to progression and there is a broad knowledge and skills base across the team.
